How to find your skin type.

How to find your skin type.

The first step when it comes to having a skincare routine is understanding your skin and knowing what skin type your face has. Learning about your skin’s specific needs is the way to go when choosing the right products for a healthier, more radiant skin.

Your skin is unique, but it can be classified within four big groups by knowing its characteristics. Determine your skin type at home by following one of these two methods.

The fastest method is by using a bottling paper. Use the blotting paper on your face, gently patting different areas. Determine how much oil is visible by holding the sheet up to the light. If the only areas that picked oil where your nose and forehead, your skin is normal. If the paper is saturated with oil, you most likely have oily skin. However, if the sheet picked up little to no oil, you have dry skin.

Don’t have a blotting paper? Cleanse your face and don’t apply any other products. Examine your cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead after 30 minutes, notice if there’s any shine. Wait another 30 minutes and check if your skin feels parched. If your face feels tight, you most likely have dehydrated skin. If your nose and forehead are shiny, you most likely have a normal skin type. However, if your cheeks are shiny too, your skin is oily.

Combination skin is another variant. If you noticed some areas of your face were oily while others were dry, this might be the case. To balance your skin, use the Detox Serum on oilier areas, and the Restore Moisturizer for the drier areas.

Dry skin can be flaky and tight. You would want to get rid of the dead skin and impurities so that your serums and moisturizer can be absorbed more easily.

Oily skin produces excess sebum and is prone to breakouts, leaving the pores congested and clogged. You should use lighter products and gently exfoliate to balance the tone and texture of your skin.
